Our Story

The Yellow Dog Behind the Brand

She Was the One Who Wasn't Trying to Impress Me

I always wanted a dog. Growing up, it was the dream and the day finally came when I took my mom and I and drove out to a small family-run breeder. Twelve yellow lab puppies were tumbling all over each other, climbing on us, licking everything in sight.

We were there for four hours.

How do you choose?

I ended up with the one who wasn't all over me. The one who sat back, took it all in, watched the chaos around her with quiet, steady eyes. She wasn't trying to win me over. She didn't need to.

That was Sage.

Sage was calm, independent, steady and a mind all of her own. She taught me patience without ever trying to. She went everywhere with me; walks, road trips, just doing life; we had so many adventures. She even changed my mother, who had been afraid of dogs her whole life. Sage had a way of doing that. Quietly. Without force. She just was, and somehow that was always enough.

I lost her to hemangiosarcoma when she was just shy of eight years old. Her loss rocked my world and redirected it entirely. I quit my job, packed up my dog Ruby, and drove east for a six-month internship in dog training. A career I never imagined, made possible by a dog I will never forget.

That was over eleven years ago.

For Everyone Who Has Ever Been Shaped by a Dog

Maybe you're thinking of one right now.

The one you grew up with. The one who got you through something hard. The one whose face you still see when you close your eyes, even years later. The hair you still find hiding in corners. The one sleeping at your feet as you read this.

They were all different. They all meant something different. And every single one of them was exactly right for the season of life they were in.

That's the magic of dogs. They don't just share our lives, they shape them. Quietly, completely, and in ways we're still discovering long after they're gone.

Named for my Sage — but built for every dog who has ever changed a life. Every dog who made someone braver, softer, more patient, more present. Every dog who is no longer here but is somehow still everywhere.

Smile thinking of yours. Hold on to every single memory.

They were worth it. Every moment.

Wise by nature. Named for the wise ones.

Sit. Stay. Sage.
